About

DataSource has supported the IRS for 25 years, beginning with ABIS implementation, and then continual enhancements based on evolving customer needs, government directives and initiatives, and opportunities to implement new interfaces in support of IRS’s enterprise. IRS’s ABIS system has almost 50 interface transaction types, including with its HR systems, Contracts system, ER/LR (Employee Relations/Labor Relations) system, PDS system through which system access and computer/equipment and desk space assignment are handled, and of course, DCSA systems. ABIS also interfaces with “Tax Check” at the IRS for initial vetting of new employees and contractors plus all active contractors once a year. When the IRS gave up its delegated authority in 2008, we worked closely with OPM and the IRS to develop a comprehensive process using eDelivery and assisted with the eDelivery design. At any given time, there are 200-300 people in IRS Personnel Security, who are responsible for the processing of about 6,000 cases per month. ABIS’s application security functionality supports the manner in which the IRS manages, assigns, and approves work for its Personnel Security workforce as they have a greater-than-usual degree of variety in the tasks and roles that individuals can be assigned and permitted to perform.

Supporting Our Customers

True Partnership with Customers

We know that everyone says it, but we truly do partner with our customers. We answer when customers call. We talk through ideas and the best way to implement a new feature or capability. Our customers have good ideas and we want to continue making ABIS the best it can be, so our common goals foster a productive partnership.

Collaborative User Roundtables

We meet periodically with our customers to share ideas and solutions, to identify and plan new capabilities, how some tasks can be automated, and of course, to plan for Trusted Workforce initiatives. We have found these user sessions ("roundtables") to be helpful and to contribute to the value ABIS provides.

Deep Expertise in Personnel Security

We stay aware of what is going on in Personnel Security. It is a domain that seems to always be changing. Personnel Security is also integrated in so many business functions that opportunities for new automated interfaces often appear. Our team is knowledgeable enough to recognize those opportunities and make good suggestions.

Transparent Progress Reporting

We provide transparency into our status and progress for customer requested enhancements so that they can be aware of what we are working on and what stage we're in. This helps Personnel Security planning efforts and enables them to provide accurate reporting to their management.
